The Sun Shines Through, by Cindy Morgan

There’s a house on Allen Street, in that nice new neighborhood
It’s got buttercup siding and a front porch swing
Moved in about a year ago, when his job was doing good
Baby’s due any day

But the market changed and times got hard
He sold his bike and their second car
Now there’s a House for Sale sign in the yard

Sometimes life hands you a hard road to take
You wonder how far you can bend till you break
Hold on to the hand that’s holding you
Cause even when it’s raining
The sun shines through

She was valedictorian and the homecoming queen
The sparkle of her mom and daddy’s eyes
She met a man and fell hard and fast, but he was not what he seemed
Now her mom and dad just sit around and cry

It’s been ten years since they’ve seen her face
Three grandkids along the way
And they wonder if it’s ever going to change

Sometimes life hands you a hard road to take
You wonder how far you can bend till you break
Hold on to the hand that’s holding you
Cause even when it’s raining
The sun shines through

Well we’ve all got some pain and a thorn to bear
Seems like some get more than their fair share
But take that next step they cannot take
Something good is on its way

Oh when life hands you a hard road to take
You wonder how far you can bend till you break
Hold on to the hand that’s holding you
Cause even when it’s raining
The sun shines through
