Ah, Friday. Finally! What a crazy couple of weeks this has been. I thought things would start slowing down, but on last Friday, our one and only car broke down. Something was wrong with transmission on the van, and Scott managed to get it down to the mechanics. After waiting all weekend and bumming rides everywhere, they called on Monday to tell us we would need a whole new transmission. Sigh.
Monday was spent making calls and figuring out what in the world we were going to do. To we fix the van? Is it worth it? How much will it cost, and where are we going to get that money? What the heck do we do in the meantime? We still have to get to work!
After a stressful day, God did his thing. As He always does, he provided what we needed.
Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Phillipians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
He met our needs in 2 great ways:
1) On Monday night, Scott and I bought a car. We were able to get a great deal, no money down, and a low monthly payment. We weren’t even planning on actually buying one yet (maybe sometime down the road), but this just kind of fell into our laps (more about my new car in a later post…).
2) Wednesday, we were able to get a used transmission for the van for $350.00, much lower than we expected. It should only cost around $700 to fix everything, which is much less than the $1,500 to $2,000 we were originally thinking. It should be all set by this Monday!
In other news...
My dad went home from the hospital on Monday. He's doing good, but still a long way from a full recovery. Please continue to keep him in prayer.
Soulfest is next week. Things are finally seeming to come together for this, and hopefully it won't be a terrible experience. It's great for getting the word about Cleft out there, and we get to see some sweet bands!
The first service of Still Waters Christian Church is on August 3rd. If you're in the Southern Maine area, come check it out. Main Street in Westbrook, service is at 10AM. New Mercy Morning will be playing.
Here's to Fridays!!!
